In order to have your MarinaIS servicing boats and stations you must have an internet connection.

Start the MarinaIS  by pushing the start button.

Make sure the web server is on (click on the web server icon and see if it is on)

make sure the network connection indicator is green.

Click on MarinaIS management  icon.

Choose self-service or supervised service.

If self-service is chosen the server is ready and boats/users can enter the network.

If supervised service is chosen boats can enter the local marina page and can ask for an internet connection.

After a boat asks for connection the boat's details appear on the consul. The operator can then grant a connection by clicking on "Update" or refuse a connection by clicking twice on the boat name.

Connecting a PC

 to the network

The network is designed to be accessed with no special configuration, from any computer that is equipped with a wireless internet adaptor. Many of the new lap-top computers are preinstalled with this device. Sony, Toshiba an HP are only few brands of  computers that are delivered with wireless internet adaptors.  (Sometimes called wireless LAN).

These computers (and computers that are previously installed with wireless adaptors) will find the network automatically. The network name is : MarinaIS .

The pc user should open a web browser and enter in the URL area : http://serv/MarinaIS/

The user will be presented with the marina Web site.

Asking and granting

 Internet permission

The system design that any boat (PC) in the effective area are able to view the internal Marina Internet site. On the marina internal site the user will find a link to get an internet connection (usually under services). Click on the connection link and fill out the form. After completing the form and submitting it, the MarinaIS operator will grant the permission  and the user will be able to connect to the internet.

Equipping a computer

 with wireless adaptor.

Older Laptops will need to be equipped with wireless adaptors. Not all wireless adaptors are made the same. We recommend the  following Brands : Orinoco (lucent) Zoom, Linksys. The  wireless adaptors need to be 8011.b compatible (also called WIFI) and can connect to the computer via the PCMCIA slot or USB connection.

The wireless adaptor is delivered with it's own drivers and software and the adaptor manufacturer will have it's own set of instruction to install the adaptor.

After installing the adaptor a minor setup may need to be done to the adaptor via the software that is delivered with the adaptor.

1.Connection mode is: "Infrastructure"

2. Channel : 10 (unless this was changed by the marina operator)

3.Incription: off

4.Transmit rate : auto-rate

5. Station name : MarinaIS

NOTE: In some rare cases if the pc user can see the local internet and can not see the global internet, he will have to enter a manual DNS (domain name server) entry. Call support to help you with this.

Problem Solving :

1. What to do when the client sees the local marinaIS server and can not see the internet (http://www.yahoo.com  for example)?

The problem is probably a lack of DNS server. To add a DNS server :

A. Go to Windows start , Setting , control panel and click on the Icon "Network".

On the Tub Configuration  find the Entry TCP/IP - ZoomAir ... and Highlight it. It will look like this:

Click on "Properties" and  choose DNS Configuration  you need to change it by selecting Enable DNS, enter Any Name for "Host" and then Add 2 DNS numbers: 206.129.172.2 and 206.129.172.3 after you have done it will look like this:

now click "Ok" and then ok again and  restart the computer.

You should be able to see http://www.yahoo.com and any other site.
